Do Ranger preps stack?
I've seen different answers to this question, so I figured who better to ask, than the Gurus?

hmmm, I am honestly not sure as I've never taken more than one prep at a time. I do know that skills such as Ignite Arrows will stack with Dual Shot but I'm not sure if say choking gas would stack with Ignite Arrows and with Dual Shot. I've just never tried.
I'll test it out when I get a chance. |

I was thinking of a character that would use a bunch of preps to seriously buff his damage capability. With the right combination, you could poison your opponent, interrupt them and anyone else nearby, and do an additional 30 damage, all just from preps. Add in Marksman's wager, and you are regaining energy at the same tiime. If one of those arrows was a Precision Shot or another skill, you get those benefits as well. |

I'm not sure it would be terribly beneficial to put too many preps as they all have a significant prep time. I don't think you'd get much return for the energy investment. I can see maybe dropping two on an attack, but if you put more than one you'll only get about one attack off before you had to refresh all your preps again.
You'd get a much better dps by focusing on only a few skills combined. I do like to sometimes put a prep on dual arrows (although I rarely bring any of those skills) but I don't think it would be worth it to add much more. |

Ah, good point. I hadn't taken casting time into consideration.
Back to the drawing board. |

You can only have 1 preparation skill up at a time. When you cast a new preparation skill, it overrides any active preparation skill.
you can stack enchantments that add to your attacks like a conjure element or judges insight along with the preparation. |

The best you can do as a Ranger is to stack a Ritual, a Preparation, a Stance, and an Attack, e.g., Greater Conflagration, Read the Wind, Serpent's Quickness, Poison Arrow. Now, obviously, you can also get buffs from other Professions???Enchantments, for example???that will modify your attacks as well. ???Siran Dunmorgan |
